One of the regulars at my gym is a man named Dave. Dave retired last Friday and he is still coming to the gym at 0500. Why? It’s a part of who he is. He doesn’t have to get up at 0430 to be here at 5 he just does. Hos routine includes daily fitness. Maybe that’s why at the age of 62 he has bicep veins and is strong AF. The work you put in today matters for your quality of life later on and Dave is a great example of that. I am only 46 years old and even at my age, I am asked why I train so hard. Why do I sacrifice sleep just to go to the gym. It’s because so many people at my age have so many physical problems. If they are parents, they cannot play with their kids. They are fat, lazy, and so far out of shape that they see no way out. I refuse to be that person. I want to be like Dave when I grow up. Retired, healthy, training hard, and giving the young bucks like me a run for their money. When you hear people say that you are training for life, that’s what they mean. The power of one.
