This was an interesting experiment…. I was inspired by a similar edit
@jpiccari had done, so I decided to have a go using one of the ‘paint’ pictures we created as a proof of concept. (If you did down far enough in my profile you can find the original picture).

I am sure there are far more efficient ways to achieve this in Photoshop (using channels, probably), but I actually found it very calming to do it completely manually, just painting over layers whilst listening to podcasts.

Now, I fancy trying again from scratch!
