Rescue Supporter Putting a little bit of focus on the recent presence in Aviano of a lesser known but still relevant piece of the larger SAR ecosystem: the HC-130J Combat King II. To keep it short, it's a heavily modified version of a regular Hercules aimed primarily at extending the range of helicopters performing C/SAR through aerial refueling as well as performing command and control and pararescue airdrops when required. Definitely an unsung hero, but one that can truly make a difference in moments of need... that others may live. Here both the Combat King and 56th RQS Pave Hawks are RTBing after one such training sortie to maintain that essential air to air refueling skill up to the task.
