What is the event about? BASIS Vinschgau Venosta will be hosting a day dedicated to environmental sustainability in nightlife, as part of the NightSchool training program for people working in night culture. ♻️ What’s on the program? 💡 The day will offer a lecture by clubliebe e.V with live testing at KASINO, a workshop designed by Ella Overkleeft and a group discussion on the future of night culture. Coming this week in Brussels @artbrussels ! @adrienn_ujhazi . “ @letrangere_london is proud to introduce new bioart from the series BIOPHILIA by the artist Adrienn Újházi, alongside Poppy Seed Houses by Anna Kutera, at Art Brussels 2022. Kombucha is an amber-coloured, effervescent drink created from sweetened black and green tea and the digestive ferments of kombucha scoby. The scoby, like any smart yeast, feeds on sugar and tanine and expells the ferment, its bacteria similar to kefir or kvass, with similar beneficial effect for the human biome. There are various lineages of kombucha coming from Asia to Central and Eastern Europe, all good for microbiome (as a drink or vinaigrette), hair (as a rinse), or, less traditionally, as a work of bioart. For the last several years, artist Adrienn Újhazi has been using kombucha as a material and a muse, observing its organic reactions to various living conditions and embalming it as a part of her artistic practice. Series of lightboxes BIOPHILIA are a result of a durational processes that use symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) with natural plant materials, building up a final work from multiple vantage points, under varying light conditions, in search of the new aesthetic, epistemological and societal implications of bioart.
