Kyoto truly is a magical place. I spent 4 days there, waking up every morning around 5am to beat the crowds of people flocking towards the popular sights. This made the bamboo forest and the Fushimi inari shrine experiences feel more authentic. While not as popular amongst tourists, the Kyoto botanical gardens is also worth a visit.
