We are very happy to have been commissioned to design the identity for the German Pavilion 2024 @deutscherpavillon at the 60th Biennale di Venezia @labiennale
Under the title THRESHOLDS, the contribution to the German Pavilion 2024 narrates history and the future from various artistic positions.
The artistic contribution approaches thresholds, steps, and boundaries through three scenarios: The first two scenarios – by Yael Bartana and Ersan Mondtag – will be shown in the German Pavilion of the Giardini della Biennale. The third scenario – by Michael Akstaller, Nicole L’Huillier, Robert Lippok, and Jan St. Werner – builds a bridge to another location outside the Giardini: the island of La Certosa.
THRESHOLDS are places where no one can stay – places that only exists because one thing has occurred and another still awaits.
THRESHOLDS are crossings, lines between places and times.
THRESHOLDS are there to be transcended.

Animated poster for the upcoming exhibition Opera to a Black Venus by @grada.kilomba at @kunsthallebadenbaden
Kilomba’s work has been described as a new postcolonial minimalism, in which form, image and movement blurs the boundaries between disciplines. The staging of her works unfolds the title of the exhibition, Opera to a Black Venus; makes reference to the Black history of resilience and resistance, and is dedicated to the entanglement between ecological collapse and colonial injustice.
This exhibition was organized in collaboration between Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid.

Double sided booklet for THRESHOLDS at @deutscherpavillon
THRESHOLDS is the first exhibition from the German contribution to @labiennale to leave the German Pavilion, located in the Giardini. This outward step is a signal against the nation-state orientation of the Biennale’s garden. The island of La Certosa, as a park open to the public, serves as a kind of antithesis to the walled territory of the countries representing themselves.
Both sides of the booklet represent the two localities and feature work texts and biographies of the artists @michaelakstaller@yaelbartana@nico_lh@robert_lippok@ersanmondtag@fiepblattercatalogue
The middle of the booklet contains texts by the curator @ilkcagla and the chroniclers @bushmagus@gaustin4 and connects the two sides. It is printed with three spot colors and also features fold-out maps.
