I love the country. Adore the gracious Queen Mother. And cannot wait to return to "Mountain Echoes".

"MAKANAI - COOKING FOR THE MAIKO HOUSE".
Delicate and exquisite. Gentle and lyrical. The series draws you in so softly....till you find yourself as an intimate member of the Maiko House, as the women go about their daiily lives, before some of them dramatically switch and go into geisha mode, dressed in elaborate silk kimonos, their faces painted white, their eyes expressionless as they perform to languourous songs of unrequited love and longing. Geishas cannot marry, have children, carry cell phones or encourage boy friends. They get a tiny stipend. But are well looked after in the okiyo by loving "mothers".

This detailed and well researched article in Sunday Midday, with a reference to my wonderful modelling years, brought back great memories of travelling across India with some of the most beautiful, glamourous and talented women. Those ramp walks taught me a lot! Confidence, poise, camarederie. We had a grand time!!
Thank you , Shanti and Sangeeta Chopra. Indelible memories!
