Excited to announce the recipients of the 2024 Wading For Change BIPOC Filmmakers Grant! Through the generous support of @fattire a combined total of $20,000 in funding has been awarded to @trailsandultras and @galacticbrown for their projects Beyond The Saddles and Night Writers. Beyond The Saddles is a story about non-binary runner Blank Bruno exploring identity and finding community through trail running, set against the backdrop of the trails of Prescott, Arizona. Night Writers explores the stylistic and ideological connections between graffiti artists and street skiers by way of a ski mask. Each of these films will premiere at our Flagship Festival in April 2025! Thanks to @sofia_jaramillo5 and @jrrdrgz for doing the work to establish this grant, @mountainsofcolorfilmfest for partnering with us on the process, and of course @fattire for supporting BIPOC filmmakers in the adventure space.

Faith and Monica spoke about their experiences working on projects that expand the narratives around women and BIPOC+ for large streaming services and other clients. It was an honor to have these inspiring filmmakers at our festival and humbling to be on stage with them. We also hosted fly casting and paddle boarding experiences. What kind of panels and experiences should we host next year? Maybe a @fordbronco off-roading workshop in the Tetons?? 👀 #teambronco _ambassador

I think I’m in love… The trails here have my heart 💛 This year I’ve been running longer distances and more elevation than i ever have before and it feels so good. Good to be back home in Idaho. Good to smell the sagebrush and see the Aspen trees. Good to be on these trails again.

Year 2 of Mountains of Color Film Festival in the books! film festivals over the years have been a big part of remembering that i’m a filmmaker. having the time to celebrate what we make and watch it with an audience is always such a gift. while i don’t get to see all of our projects on the big screen, i’m always so proud when have that opportunity. hearing the audience react to the story is one of the best parts. i’ve never before attended a film festival that was made FOR US and BY US. to join the advisory council of the @mountainsofcolorfilmfestival , a first-of-its-kind film festival celebrating BIPOC+ folks in the outdoors, is part of the continuous joy i’ve had at being able to EP my first film, Wading for Change, directed by @sofia_jaramillo5 and @jrrdgz . for them to not only make their first film, but to then create a film grant AND a whole festival! incredible, so proud we get to build community and increase representation together in this way! during this year’s fest, i’ll be on a panel sharing our stories and experiences as BIPOC women navigating the world of filmmaking with the indomitable @monicamedellin_ and Sofia Jaramillo! ✨🙌🏾 see you in Jackson, Wyoming, June 7th-10th!
