When I started doing conventions, I wanted an affordable way to collect my art, and postcards were the best solution. They’re awesome and people love them. They’re affordable and good for those of us with wall space issues. I’ve gotten a bunch of requests to sell them in my online Shop but selling and shipping a bunch of individual $5 postcards doesn’t make sense with my workload. So I decided to sell them as a bundle. You can choose any 10 for $40. I also started printing and shipping my greeting cards as well. I was having them fulfilled by a print-to-order app, but there were issues with orders being lost. My solo show, Phases, is rapidly approaching—too rapidly in my opinion. The show opens August 9th at Outré Gallery in lovely Melbourne, Australia. Between moving studios, venturing into Conventions, reworking my Shop, and getting deep into my next show, I have had little time for posting lately... and I probably won’t until this art show is close to finished. That being said, it’s super exciting to be putting a new body of work together for my upcoming show! This will be the biggest group of traditional work I’ve done in a long time. I wanted to test out a horizontal painting in the new multi-photo swipe design in IG. This is my most recent digital painting, Embrace the Feral Night. Vertical paintings have always looked so much better in IG since you can post them much bigger. Really long pieces always look pretty awkward. So much so that it kind of encourages vertical compositions. This could be a nice, new feature for landscape format pieces. I had to format the image a bit since we’re still stuck under the tyranny of the 4:5 photo ratio. Moved back to my home studio this month. My home studio turned into a cat room during our renovations a couple years ago so it took a lot of work to get it back to shape. The layout came together nicely. I had to get a smaller printer since my huge Epson died and it’s nice to have that extra bit of room. Also glad to have my full-size drafting table back. I have a ton of painting to do in the next few months (Outré show opens in August) and I’m way more comfortable painting here.

The solar eclipse yesterday was awesome. Such a cool astrological event to witness with my own ISO standard protected eyes. I always love that special blend of scary and beautiful, and an eclipse perfectly captures that feeling. So much so that I made a couple eclipse paintings over the years to utilize that emotion. The first, “Under the Glow of Anomaly”, was an oil painting done in 2018 for my show, The Witching Hour, at Outré Galley. The second, “Together Through the Shifting Tides”, is a digital painting I did in 2022 for my 10 year wedding anniversary with Ash. It represents how far we’ve come in our journey. How much beauty and horror we’ve witnessed together and what we will face moving forward. That special blend. After some consideration, I decided to take down my Displate Shop. @kelly_mckernan gave me a heads ups about the rampant selling of AI art on their platform(thanks!) and upon deeper review, a lot of it is super egregious. Maybe AI art has a place somewhere (as a tool or just for the fun of it) but certainly not in stealing my colleagues’ work and making money off of it. Fuck all that. Update: I made this remake for Displate, but was then informed to the rampant use of AI art on the site. A lot of my colleagues’ work was being mimicked, stolen, and sold and that’s not ok with me. So I’m shutting down my Displate store and moving this painting over to my shop to be sold as an open edition print. When I made the original Bearers of the Broken painting, I reached a point where I had to decide if I wanted the atmosphere of a small figure under a huge sky, or if I should bring the figure and island to the forefront to showcase those details. I went with atmosphere and I love how it turned out... but I was always curious how the other direction would’ve turned out. So I finally explored the other option and I love it as well! Coming soon to a convention near you! Actually more like driving distance from me! I’m going to start hitting up some conventions beginning with Steel City Con April 12th-14th. So excited. I’ve been thinking of doing this for a while and I’m finally taking the steps. I have a nice table and display ready to go, including this sign here. Had to put my Gremmy on the sign to lure people in with his meezer magic eyes. So if you’re going to Steel City Con, definitely drop by my table and say hi!
