Happy World Theatre Day 💖
Theatre has definitely looked a little different for me the past few years but I’m so incredibly thankful to of found my place on the stage where I can be my true authentic self. I’m incredibly thankful for all the opportunities and people who brought me here but this world theatre day I have a few things for you to ponder next time you’re casting.
Gender and queer performers are constantly being attacked and as someone who fought so long to be accepted in an art form that claims to be progressive, I can tell you we have a lot of work to do. Trans and GNC artists are EVERYWHERE and damn are they talented. Are you seeking out non-traditional ways to find these artists? Are your calls truly inclusive? Or are they just lip service? How can you better support your QTBIPOC and Trans/Genderqueer artists to have a place to be more visible and seen by your audience?
I love theatre, I love this art form that I have worked in for over a decade! But I hate that in order to work I have to either change who I am or make my own shows.

For my birthday this year I’m sharing this look made by my incredibly talented drag mom @auntiestation that I wore to judge my first ever pageant! It was an incredible honour to get back into the judging seat (first pag but no stranger to dance comps/comp art judging) and was it ever a tough one. To all the contestants you did INCREDIBLY WELL and I hope you’re all proud of yourselves. If you ever want to sit down/chat get feedback etc. I will any time! trust me I know the feelings you’re going through and be gentle on yourselves you did phenomenally.
This was a tough event for me with a lot of questioning regarding my validity as a judge (as a newer performer I get it) but this year my goal is to worry less about the critiques and focus more on the growth. This goes for every aspect of life and art, I always say to others “take what serves you and resonates, the rest can breeze on by”. This year I will continue to grow as a person/artist and take the feedback from those who wish to help me along the way.
Here’s to the next year and a thank you to all who have helped me along the way 💖

Getting to do this number with my bb @jomamadragking was a dream come true and seeing trans people thrive in roles I never thought possible is beyond me. Now I will never claim Audrey to be a role for myself… but seeing queer partnering in these roles is such a beautiful, joyful and inspiring casting choice that I will always support. I’m def more of a Dentist/Gay Seymour imo but if anyone wants to accompany my bb and I, we will gladly sing this for ya 🥰
