😲You have a torn ACL? omg you need surgery! ❌Nope! ACL IS A LIGAMENT that joins your thigh and leg bone for stability, and it's always been assumed that once ruptured, they can’t heal 😮so surgery is the only option! no! 🦵Building muscle strength around ACL, without any surgery, helps provide stability, reduces chnaces of reinjury and has a faster return to activity! main areas to work on are - ✅Lower peak knee flexion angle - hamstrings ✅Lower internal knee extension moment - improve quads action ✅Lower rate of internal knee extension moment - motor control 🏃Pairot de Fontenay et al. 🤕Often i hear my clients say when they suffered with pain and discomfort with an activity- their doctor asked them to stop performing it completely! ✅️ Here are 2 ways to handle advice like this: 1. Make sure you're meeting a doctor from the APT Medical specialisation: Doctors of Physical Therapy can best treat movement and activity-related pain due to their experience with Athletes and study of movement and exercise more than any other specialisation! 2. Get a second Opinion- Physical Therapy is a science,NOT ONE SINGLE TREATMENT! If it didnt work for you, maybe you didn't recieve the right treatment and rehabilitation for long enough.
