Lucian Freud (1922 – 2011). ‘Self portrait: Reflection’, 1996. Etching.
Freud is best known for his intensely observed portraits and self-portraits. He would paint characters from all walks of life – including fellow artists, the criminal underworld, the aristocracy and drag queens. ‘Self Portrait: Reflection’ (1996) was his first formal self-portrait print to be published, at the age of 74. The tonal effects of bright light and deep shadow here replicate the layers of paint and visible brushstrokes seen in his canvases to express flesh. While the frontal self-portrait and top lighting should have given rise to a balanced image, Freud’s portrayal is an unflinching representation of his ageing face and the many asymmetries he documented in himself.

Black Headed Gull’s Eggs are available in limited supply over a four week period and can only be obtained by having a license from one of 6 locations in the UK.
Egg collectors are only allowed to take one egg per nest, which allows the foraging of the eggs to be sustainable.
Our eggs, direct from the Yorkshire Dales have a rich, creamy flavour and a deep golden yolk.

It’s Great British Beef Week and we’re proud to use British beef across our menus at Mount St. coming in directly from our Farm in Somerset.
The British climate we all know, and love means excellent grass, which native breed cattle turn into fat and muscle. This process leads to incredible marbling in the beef which only adds to the flavour and keeps it succulent.
