Raks Al Zahra 2024 - 1st Semester 🌱📚🌱 (Feb-Jun)
Artistic Director @natalie_hayat
We are around the corner for completing our first semester of Raks Al Zahra annual program. It has been an exciting journey for our team and dancers. Learning over 15 choreographies in 5 months to be able to recreate part of the 10 years Raks Al Zahra’s repertory. We are still can’t believe it’s truly happening. Thank you to our “Ashara Project” team leaders @aluradance@amira.raqs.nyc@iris_goddessdance@lamiahdance@earthy_dancer@glitterfundip for being the facilitator for teaching and training with each choreography. Big applause for our Raks Al Zahra NYC, Raks Al Zahra International, and Raks Al Zahra Puerto Rico for trusting and being open to challenge. This year it’s a special edition. Special thanks to @aluradance for being such a great leader and supporter.
I’m looking forward to our End of Semester - Raks Al Zahra Showcase on Sunday, June 30th.
Stay tuned for more @raksalzahra

🌿 Our Raks Al Zahra 10th Anniversary is presenting “Ashara” Project, which literally means 10 in Arabic for “ashara”.
The “Ashara” Project is a special edition that will be representing our history through choreographies since 2014. The Ashara project will be directing by Natalie Nazario beside the Ashara Team Leaders as facilitators to teach and train dancers to learn over 20 choreographies that will be presented in our celebration. Each piece that we will be performing full of meaning, technique, style, cultural context and more than anything, emotions.
We can’t wait to share all of them with you.

Coming next… Introducing the dancers of Raks Al Zahra New York City 2024!
Are you ready to know who are the dancers of Raks Al Zahra 2024?
We are so excited to introduce you to our 30 talented dancers. Stay tuned for more.
Raks Al Zahra is a program that specializes in kinds of Egyptian dance including folkloric, classical and modern styles. The main dancers are based in New York City. However, we extended the program to International dancers as well, giving the opportunity to join Raks Al Zahra from around the world. This year we started the new acquisition of Raks Al Zahra Puerto Rico. The dancers are under the direction of Natalie Nazario, training them this year all the way from Cairo, Egypt.
Every year many dancers apply to join the annual training that culminates as a Performance Theater Show to present all that they learned. This year we will be in our home New York City.
Raks Al Zahra blossomed into life in May 2014 when they debuted at the Spring Caravan in New Jersey. Since then they have won many accolades, including winning first place at NYCairoRaks Festival in 2015 and taking the prize for the group category, as well as, first place at RakStar in 2018 and then again at Heart of America in 2019. They have performed in Canada, Puerto Rico, Japan and across the United States.
The meaning of Raks Al Zahra embodies the beauty and splendor of a blossoming flower. True to their name, Raks Al Zahra emits grace, beauty, precision, and passion whenever they take the stage. They bring joy, excitement, and a new perspective to the art of dance that will leave you feeling Al Zahra. 🌺
