Nora, a Chemistry Major with General Chemistry Emphasis, fell in love with chemistry after taking a General Chemistry class at UW-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus (@uwgbmanitowoc ). “Dr. Amy Kabrhel, her teaching style is infectious. The way she taught just made me want to learn more. At the age of ten, UW-Green Bay alumnus Lolar Moua left Laos. He hadn't really left his sub-tropical village before that day when he found himself arriving in Green Bay mid-winter. Despite the challenges, including climate shock, Lolar took enthusiastically to his new life—especially school. “The importance of education was always stressed at home,” Lolar shares. “My parents, who never had the chance to attend school themselves, pushed me to seize the educational opportunities here, reminding me not to waste this great opportunity.” Lolar's love for world of computing was sparked by a simple self-contained video game from his youth. This eventually evolved into Lolar earning a degree in Computer Science from UW-Green Bay, being named UW-Green Bay Student Employee of the Year and being hired by the University as a web developer, which he sees as more than a job... “This isn’t just a job,” he emphasizes, “it’s where my journey’s milestones have been laid, where I now help pave the way for others.” Read more of Lolar's Rise Story at the link in our bio ➡️ @uwgb

This spring was extra special for more than 100 high school graduates that received an associates degree BEFORE their high school diploma! In May, UW-Green Bay's Rising Phoenix program celebrated its largest class yet! 🎓 Now that they have also completed high school, Rising Phoenix participants are now set to begin their college journeys as third-year students! Recent grad, Syd, hosted @Lifeatuwgb this spring, sharing this: "This is (most of) my Short Fiction Writing Workshop Class! In this class, we learn, practice, and discuss different writing techniques with an emphasis on short story writing. We just finished up our second round of workshops, where everyone writes a short story and the class discusses/critiques it, and will be starting our third and final round this week! As you're picking out classes for Fall 2024, be sure to keep in mind the AWESOME selection of upper level writing workshops offered!" What is a class you've taken that you recommend? 💚 #lifeatuwgb

Josh has always been good at math, and after seeing his family struggle with stock market recessions and financial downturns, he decided to pursue the Finance Major at UW-Green Bay. With a passion for math and a desire to help people take control of their finances, Josh is determined to make a difference in the lives of those struggling with their income, budget, and financial stability. A fun Phoenix Friday story! Last month, alumna Nalani Bicoy joined a unique legacy as a ✨Third-Generation Phoenix grad.✨ Her grandfather, former Wisconsin State Senator Dave Hansen was a grad from one of the first UW-Green Bay graduating classes in 1971, and her mother, Cari Bicoy graduated in 2012! 🎓 Congratulations to this Phoenix Fam! 💚 #uwgbgrad @uwgbalumni
