“What I am trying to achieve is to be what I am to the fullest—Black to the fullest, a musician to the fullest, and a homosexual to the fullest. It is important that I learn how to be, by that I mean accept everything about me.” —Julius Eastman. See you tomorrow for Gay Guerrilla and more radical chamber music at the summer solstice concert
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and encourage our audiences to seek alternative forms of transportation.
Bike to Mackworth - use the bike lane on Route One and feel the ocean breeze on the causeway.
Paddle to Mackworth - kayaks can land on the beach at the end of the causeway. Put in at Portland’s East End Beach or wherever your favorite kayak outfitter will supply them.
For those who must drive, please carpool. Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing has generously offered their space for this event and will be assisting with parking. Arrive at the Ranger Station and continue into the interior of the island. Once parked, walk back to the Ranger Station to receive a map/program notes and enter the concert experience.
We will have a parking lot close to the entrance for those who need accessible spaces.
