Full of joy from last weekend! My first time in Helsinki was just epic! I’ve heard people from Kyiv say how the city evolved since the opening of this incredible space. They tell stories about the great impact this project had on multiple communities and generations, offering a safe space where people can come together and feel free of being their authentic selves. In a country where the LGBTQ+ community faces social challenges, the opening of this venue set a milestone, pushing conservative boundaries, and aiming for cultural progress, equality and open-mindedness. K41 is much more than a dance club. During the first year of the war, it served as a shelter where many could seek protection. Today, it's a space that offers various cultural initiatives. People can learn new skills by joining courses and workshops, or simply attend daytime events to connect, enjoy good music, dance, and release the pressure. My stay in Kyiv was short but truly inspiring and eye-opening. I feel honored to have had the opportunity to perform and show my support with my music. Closing the open air at K41 was an emotional and exciting journey, definitely one of my best gigs ever. The sound, the location, and mostly the crowd were 10/10. I couldn’t be more grateful for all the love and energy I received during and after my set. It was truly special, and I’d like to thank everyone I met for the great moments and conversations I was able to share. This experience will stay in my memory forever. Thank you, Kyiv. Adelina (she/her), the Ukrainian artist and curator of the fresh label Oracool, will set an atmosphere with her introspective performance, mixing dreamy basslines, trance ornaments, and winding broken structures. With Bakunn (he/him), the founder of events and broadcasts HUL, exploring the modern trends of electronic music and 20th-century avant-garde, we’ll groove from ambient tunes to breakbeat rhythms. We’re also welcoming for the first time on our stage, Cristian Marras (he/him), a resident of the epic queer collective Gegen Berlin. In his set, he will go for uplifting colorful grooving techno with house cuts. We’ve got SVZZ (he/him), representing the Kyiv underground and such labels as Polygon and UTRO, spinning vinyl with tech-house, progressive, and a dash of breakbeat sound.
