🚨Runners! What if I told you I’ve got the secret sauce… The answer to all the things you’re looking for: 👏 run faster 👏 run longer 👏 prevent injuries 👏 longevity 😉 Strength Train! That’s right! Strength training isn’t just a recommendation for my runners. It’s a requirement. 🔬 improving gross strength improves your muscles ability perform at the lower output. This means it makes the run easier, or more economic, for the working muscles! 🙌 it also improves soft tissue resilience. Running is stressful. Improving your muscles and joints capacity to handle the pounding goes a long way in keeping you running! Now there are many ways to do this. Miles were logged. Weights were moved. Baby goats were held. Pretty great week of training :) Approaching the end of my training cycle I started to feel the fatigue, physically and mentally… but man it feels so good to be running right now. I’m enjoying the sunrise and warmer temperatures. I’m feeling strong and good. I’m applying what I’ve learned through my last training cycle and race day. I’m loving running right now so much ❤️ So excited for what’s to come, and so excited to enter a new racing season this summer 💪🏻

Appreciation post for this past week ❤️ • my body feels strong and healthy • I’ve been taking care of myself in more ways than I have in the past • running is feeling so good and is so enjoyable right now • I am still feeling strong in the weight room 💪🏻 • I am so proud of where I am, and so excited of where I’m going I will still be working hard to sloooowly introduce mileage, runs, workouts… (thankful I have @jdcunningham97 to pull the reigns and keep me from doing stupid 💩), but with how I’m feeling right now, I’m so excited for this to be my starting point!

18 weeks of training has all come to this! Presenting Flat Thomas for @bostonmarathon tomorrow! I have worked so hard for this, I’ve done everything I can to ensure I will do great and enjoy the ride. Shout out to @rungoodr , @saucony and @alteregorunning for the incredible gear that I can’t wait to use and represent! Marathon training with a “normal” 8-5 job is TOUGH… and I am grateful to have a job I enjoy and one that allows so much flexibility when it comes to working from home! “Oh why don’t you just skip today’s run…” “You are crazy I could never” “This seems like a lot…” You don’t understand how passionate I am about this process. I may seem crazy to you, and maybe I am for having something I love so much I’m willing to wake up so early to put in the work for it!! I’m able to do this BECAUSE I love the process! If I didn’t love what I was doing, I WOULD NOT BE DOING IT Running may not be your passion, and that’s fine! I would rather run myself to the ground than cycle for over 1 hour 😆 but you need to find what fires your dreams! What fuels your passions! What drives you every day!! In today’s episode I am joined with Dr. Marie Whitt to talk all about the Hamstring muscles. ⁣ ⁣ Marie is a practicing doctor of physical therapy since 2018; who specializes in treating runners in her clinic. She has been a runner since 2009. She has had her share of running injuries which only resolved once she Dared to Train Differently and started consistently strength training. Becoming a better runner and athlete isn’t easy, but it is simple… sounds like an oxymoron, but hear me out! It’s taken me a VERY long time to understand how to implement all these aspects into my life, and it’s taken me many failures and mistakes to truly see the value of all these actions… but when you finally understand how much proper fuel impacts your energy, how important a supportive community is, how powerful strength training is… it changes the game. All these actions aren’t complicated, and they shouldn’t be! They should add to your life and help you improve play the game you love, the game of running! We don’t need complicated power lifting routines 7 days/week… don’t need some overhyped complex diet with expensive superfoods and other BS to be properly fueled… don’t need expensive gadgets to become better runners!!
