To truly create art and set aside one’s individuality, an artist constantly faces the challenge of killing their ego. To reconnect with the roots and meaning of sound, Mara, as a FLINTA artist, prioritizes de-emphasizing the aesthetics of her visual presence. The face or, more importantly, the gender behind the decks doesn’t matter.
The sound of Mara Menace creates constant tension through emphasizing contrasts: rolling vs. stompy, raw vs. melodic, and industrial vs. tribal. In the realm of music, Mara Menace dances between these contrasts. Whether it’s the juxtaposition of rolling versus stompy beats, raw versus melodic tones, or industrial versus tribal rhythms, Mara crafts an emotional journey that accentuates these differences.
Having ventured beyond the confines of DJing to explore production, Mara’s musical palette has evolved. There’s an enigmatic vibe woven throughout her sets, creating a constant tension that keeps listeners enthralled. As an emerging producer, she takes pride in seamlessly integrating her own creations into her mixes, adding her unique flavor to every set.

In May, I find myself navigating between the Booth and the Studio quite frequently. This focused dedication to production has been instrumental in shaping my musical identity. Adding to the excitement is the privilege of testing out unreleased tracks on the dance floor – a true delight!
I’m deeply grateful for these opportunities, recognizing that not everyone gets to experience them. It only amplifies my sense of appreciation.
July marks a significant milestone as my first EP is set to be released on @rhythmwerk , thanks to the incredible curation of the lovely souls @ben_reymann & @b.mod_ .

Tribal Tension - in an urban environment in a capitalist, completely overstimulated society, we are plagued by dissonances on a daily basis. These dissonances, of course, also contribute to the charm of life, but ultimately become more and more burdensome.
The longing for chaos within a well-structured framework shapes our needs. Inspired by prominent figures, I wanted to move away from synthesizers and vocals. Rhythms and drums define the concept. As I delve further into the vast field of music production, I’ve noticed how electronic music is mathematically constructed, yet still strives to incorporate an organic element. Unquantized drums and grooves only evoke the necessary chaos that our ears crave. It’s a paradox that both @tabeabrk , also known as Bea Babe, and I are increasingly preoccupied with in a city like Berlin.
Berlin appears to be the perfect balance between chaos and structure. It’s a global metropolis filled with paradoxes, dissonances, and tensions. Even though I try to fully dedicate myself to the sound, we are all visual people. As a result, this little teaser for „Tribal Tension“ was created.
The track will finally be released in the upcoming weeks. We hope you enjoy the project.
