"Edie (The Destroyer)"
Although Eisenman has made sculptures since the 1990s, she has increasingly focused on the medium, bringing her wit and material exploration into three dimensions. This monumental sculpture is an ode to the artist's cat, Edie, who entered her life during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Underscoring the amusingly exaggerated impact of an otherwise diminutive housecat, Eisenman has rendered the larger-than-life bronze head as a wrecking ball, tethered by a chain to a crane.
Eisenman selected this particular crane, emblazoned with the manufacturer's name MARSDEN, as an homage to the US artist Marsden Hartley (1877-1943). With this nod to art history, Eisenman traces a lineage between Hartley's vibrant paintings and her own figurative style.

We're thrilled to bring back an intimate festival of live arts highlighting essential local artists on a national platform.
The 2024 iteration of Chicago Performs includes work by cat mahari, Lynkanthea, and Every house has a door, who will present a variety of performances across the MCA’s grounds, including the Edlis Neeson Theater and the Anne & John Kern Terrace Garden.
Their works include a play-inspired performance, lush and environmental musical activations that transform the MCA Stage, and an outdoor performance inspired by The Carnival of the Animals that addresses climate change.

On this day in 2018 we opened, "I Was Raised on the Internet."
"I Was Raised on the Internet" focused on how the Internet has changed how we experience the world. Due to new types of gaming and entertainment and the rise of social media and alternative modes of representation, the every day is no longer what it used to be.
The ways we interact have shifted through the connected nature of telecommunications devices across the internet, including mobile applications, social media platforms, and large search engines that have become everyday tools for individuals from all walks of life.
The exhibition was organized by former Manilow Senior Curator and Director of Global Initiatives Omar Kholeif.
