So sweet volunteering to feed kūpuna (elders) at Hale Mahaolu today with the Bayanihan Feeding Program 🍴✨! My @mauinuiprelim titas (sisters) & I plated and delivered 220 hot meals this morning! Such a blessing to put smiles on people’s faces!

Welina mai e Hawai’i! ‘O au nō ia! Mahalo me ke aloha pumehana e ku’u lāhui, e ‘Ihikapalaumāewa, a me ka pae ‘āina o Hawai’i! I am beyond grateful for this once in a lifetime opportunity to represent Hawai’i as a Hawaiian & a woman working in conservation. This experience is a blessing and I am thrilled to have the privilege to represent our people. I stepped out of my comfort zone (as a boot & camo loving tita with ferns all up in her curly bushy hair) and trusted my support system.
I am beyond blessed to have met such remarkable women throughout this process. I am so grateful to have such an amazing friend & tita in my life @caiaonfiyah . Thank you for being you & supporting me throughout everything. You’re the kindest, most genuine person who’s beautiful and radiant inside and out. You truly make our kūpuna proud. Thank you for sharing your support system with me.
I couldn’t have been nearly as prepared as I was without the help of my amazing hair & makeup artists @blushmb & @natily.taguding . Thank you for believing in me and pouring your hearts in to this process for me. You have curated such an amazing experience by merely showing up. You both are such phenomenal people and have made me learn the lesson of trust. Trusting you both has lead me to where I am today. I may disagree on some things to stay true to myself but in the end I know you both want the absolute best for me and I trust that you will always have my back. I love you both 💚

KIWIKIU vibes for my interview yesterday! 🐣💚 I am beyond proud of how my interview went with our amazing judges. Before entering the interview room I did an oli for Waikamoi to pay respect to & introduce the place that I work in as well as the birds and plants within it. It was an introduction of who I am and where I come from. Entering the interview room I was extremely confident and excited for the judges to get to know me! I got really emotional talking about rapid extinction rates here in Hawai’i and my passion for conservation and inspiring more Hawaiian people to stay in Hawai’i and pursue careers to take control of and protect & preserve our ‘āina, for our kūpuna. No matter what happens, I know that I brought awareness to our kūpuna and planted those seeds within our judges. I am so proud and grateful to represent ‘Ihikapalaumāewa. 🌿✨
