X TILLY GW AKA
@THECONFUSEDBADGER : Sometimes Running Stops
A few months ago, our teammate Tilly (
@theconfusedbadger ) joined Team
@LongDistance.World to take on
@TheSpeedProject , a 340 mile relay race starting on the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles, California and finishing at the 'Welcome to Las Vegas' sign in Nevada. There is no set route, no check points, rules or regulations. The only instruction is to run from LA to LV, and look out for your mates along the way.
The team found the way, reached the highs, pushed through the lows and experienced the elation that comes with a shared running feat through extreme conditions. But two weeks after the race, Tilly found herself unable to move, let alone run. Over the last four months since the race, Tilly has learned to swim and adopted a rehab program to bring her back, whilst having to consider and live the reality of: what happens when we stop? This film represents her reflection: keeping a hold of her head, friends, memories and dreams.
When running is so prominent in our lives, it structures our days, connects us with our friends, relieves our minds and provides us with purpose, what happens when we stop? Have you ever experienced it, and if not have you ever wondered? Let us know in the comments.
