COMMUNITY PARTNER SPOTLIGHT! Thank you, Dynasty Financial Partners! We are incredibly grateful to the team of Summer Analysts from Dynasty Financial Partners for volunteering their time to spend the day with our scholars on campus during our Summer Session! The team closely engaged with students during our academic classes and enrichment program, participating in character and team-building activities such as STEM and the Science of Baseball with the Tampa Bay Rays, a real-world lesson on how to be safe on social media, and engaging hands-on lessons in geometry and space science.Mentorship opportunities like this are invaluable for our scholars, providing them with role models and real-world experiences that enhance their learning and personal growth. CAMPUS LIFE! Welcome Back Academy Prep! 11th Month Summer Session! While other students have been spending their first few weeks of summer playing basketball and going to camp, Academy Prep scholars returned to the classroom for our annual 11th Month Summer Session, which is also the official start to the Academy Prep 2024-2025 school year. We were excited to meet our brand new 5th and 6th graders as they begin their Academy Prep journeys, and so happy to welcome back our returning scholars who will continue to work hard during this extended learning period maintaining a high standard of academics, building leadership skills, and of course having some SUMMER FUN! We are grateful to partner with the Tampa Bay Rays and Eckerd Summer Watersports Camp to provide engaging 11th month programming and enrichment for our scholars. Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, marks the anniversary of the day when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston and enslaved people finally learned of the Emancipation Proclamation on June 19, 1865. Juneteenth is a time to both reflect and celebrate. It has been an important holiday in the Black community for more than 150 years and is now celebrated as a federal holiday. COMMUNITY PARTNER SPOTLIGHT! Thank you Raymond James Cares! We were thrilled to recently welcome an incredible group of employees from Raymond James for a day of service at Academy Prep. This dedicated team rolled up their sleeves with positive energy and worked hard through the afternoon heat to help beautify our campus, tackling the difficult job of cleaning and preparing our outdoor lockers for the start of our 2024-2025 school year next week. Raymond James Cares is a year-round program focused on associate giving, fundraising, and volunteerism. “Giving back to the communities in which we live and work” is a philosophy that has been part of the Raymond James mission since its founding in 1962. The Academy of Culinary Arts at Hollins High School We are excited to announce 8th grade scholar Sir has been accepted to attend the Academy of Culinary Arts at Hollins High School this fall! Academy of Culinary Arts students explore different fields of the culinary trade through hands-on training preparing them for a dynamic, rewarding career in the hospitality industry. Students can earn up to three certifications during their four years and will immediately be able to apply their acquired skills into new careers upon graduation. The goal of the program is for students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in a very competitive hospitality industry and learn how to conduct themselves in a confident, professional, and ethical manner.
