The new @fibremood edition is out and the #linkpartyed28 has begun! I was thrilled at the opportunity I was given to preview the designs of the new FibreMood edition and sew one to celebrate the launch! I was immediately attracted to Nyla #fibremoodnyla , although I usually avoid gathers as much as I can! I had a crystal clear view of the dress I wanted to make, and it’s exactly this one: A statement lime yellow transparent dress at all costs! 😅 And the sewing odyssey began: - The fabric I chose, a chiffon from @kesidis_yfasmata is of course transparent and has an excellent drape. After debating on how to finish seams, I decided to go the hard way and french seam everything. That means exactly double time for all this fabric, plus I didn’t know if gathered tiers can be french seamed, so I decided to follow my instincts and I found out that they can.😅 Overall it was totally worth it, despite the hours spent. The dress is so so neat inside out, and although I am the only one who knows about it, I am really proud of myself for taking all the time needed. Also the gathers turned out really good! - Cutting the last tier was quite an adventure, as it consists of two pieces, 2.5m long each. For the first time I cut on fold with my projector! - This also means a gigantic hem of 5 meters! Thank you ban-rol! It might take twice the time on the machine, but it guarantees a perfect hem. - I needed 4.5 meters of fabric, that except for being transparent and delicate, it was also very slippery and fraying like crazy. For cutting I used the tissue paper tip that I learned from @thepatternline (as of course the ban rol tip for hemming as well). - The neckline, sleeve cuffs and the waist seam are finished with bias binding. The volume this dress has is much more than I am used to handling especially when it’s windy outside! But I love love love it!💛 #isew #sewist #memade #madebyme #handmadewardrobe #slowfashion #thanksimadeit #millenialsewing #sewistsofinstagram #greecesews #athenssews #ραπτική #sewingpattern #linkparty #newsewingpattern #fibremood #fibremooded28 #fibremoodlinkparty #fibremoodmagazine

a mock turtleneck Nikko dress by @truebias ! That’s a long overdue project that was in my mending pile for 2 years. I had to unpick the side seams (sewn with a lightning bolt stitch) and was postponing forever. But then I saw that this January is #nikkodress #nikkotop month and I had to get it done! And I am so happy I did because I love the result😊 This is not the first time I am sewing a Nikko (several outfits in my grid have been paired with nikko tops), but it is the first time I tried the dress version. And I have to say that despite figure hugging dresses making me feel a little self conscious, I love this one and I am sure it will get tons of wear. It is very comfy and can easily be dressed up or down! I made a couple of mods: I raised the slits about 15 cm higher to give more room and ease of walking. Also, the armhole bands are supposed to be hidden on the inside, but my fabric was very thick and created a lot of bulk. So I just attached them to the armhole the same way as the neck band. I used a dusty pink stretch velvet bought more than 2 years ago from @kesidis_yfasmata and it’s soooo soft and great to wear and touch! PS. The earrings are also me made! Before I started sewing, I had taken a 3 month silversmithing course which I loved and practiced for a while, but eventually sewing won my heart ❤️ 😅 Pattern: #nikkodress @truebias Fabric: stretch velvet from @kesidis_yfasmata #isew #memade #memadeeveryday #madebyme #handmadewardrobe #slowfashion #thanksimadeit #millenialsewing #imakemyownclothes #imakemyclothes #sewistsofinstagram #greecesews #athenssews #ραπτική #ραβω #sewityourself #sewingpattern #truebiasnikko #truebiaspatterns #truebias #sewwhatihave2024

the @roberts.wood #robertswoodkit 81-piece patchwork skirt! This is the skirt of my dreams. I love everything about it. The movement, the textures, the transparency! @roberts.wood patterns are so special and unique. They are a work of art themselves. It is kind of amazing to see these little pieces coming together and making a beautiful garment. I am very happy and proud that I made my own version! The skirt consists of 80 individual pieces+waistband that are assembled to construct the skirt. The patchwork design creates these subtle vertical bows and allows you to play with different fabrics, colors, textures. The construction itself is not difficult (although it involves a lot of curved seams) but it forces you to take it slow and be repetitive, which I really enjoy and appreciate when it happens. I took good care of every seam, serging and topstitching everything. I made a size 10-12. I used two different fabrics from @tsagrinos.textiles , black satin for the bows, hem and waistband, and black organza for the rest. I very much like the different levels of transparency on the skirt. The effect changes depending on what you’re wearing underneath. I paired it with a @truebias #nikkotop in black rib. Already dreaming of my next versions! This is the newly released Ines dress #jpinesdress by @just_patterns and no I wasn’t one of the testers! I just fell for this design so much when Delphine teased it, and I had such a clear vision of what I wanted to make, that I had even pre-washed the fabric and stashed enough bias tape way before release. I don’t even remember where I got this inspiration, but I was pleasantly surprised to see @sewuthinkucan post this exact version in her #sewthelook series yesterday! It would be also a great entry for #sewrecreatethelook but I am a bit too late for that! The dress is designed to be lined, but it’s very hot in Greece right now and I decided to skip the lining. I made a size 40. When I assembled the dress and basted the invisible zipper on to check the fit, the neckline was gaping a bit, which was somewhat expected (the pattern is drafted for a B/C cup and I am a C/D cup) so I gave a bit more shaping to the front panel, by starting around 6cm lower than the upper edge and grading my seam allowance from 1cm to 1.7cm on the top (like a rounded bust dart stitched in reverse). I also shortened the straps by ~3cm on each side. I tried it on and it was sitting perfectly on me, so I didn’t trim the 1/4’’ SA to accommodate for the absence of lining. And with these small adjustments, I feel I achieved the perfect fit for me, without even making a proper toile! Till this point it was a very quick sew! Then I started topstitching contrasting black bias tape centered on top of each seam, exactly as in corsets with bias channels for boning. It took quite some time to complete all 12 seams, around 18 meters of 12mm wide bias tape, and several meters of thread to topstitch both sides. But it was totally worth it! I used 20mm bias tape to bind the neckline and the armholes. I can’t even describe how much I love this dress, I am truly amazed at how it has turned out! A great pattern, highly recommended! The new @fibremood edition 29 is out and this means it’s time for another #linkpartyed29 🥳🎉! I am happy to add another sheer make to my wardrobe, this time a #twopiecesetacular with the newly released #fibremoodines Ines top and #fibremoodgedda Gedda skirt! I am deep into sheer things era and when I previewed the #fibremooded29 patterns, those two immediately caught my eye and I imagined them in a semi sheer, fluid, breezy fabric. The Gedda skirt is a maxi gathered skirt with a yoke that fastens with a concealed zipper on the side and is a quick sew. I made a size 12 and I shortened it about 10cm because it’s floor length (I am 170cm tall). As usual with chiffon, I french seamed everything. I also tried French seams with a concealed zipper for the first time. I followed the same steps I do for french seams and split hem. I hemmed with ban rol! The Ines top has some beautiful details like the ruched shoulder and the gathered front, but I am feeling there is some fabric excess at the back that I don’t know how to deal with! Also, it is quite hard to put on because there is only elastic at some portion of the back. I made a size S. I had quite a hard time French seaming and enclosing everything but I am super happy with the clean finishes. What I love most is the interplay between the top and the skirt and how their similar features are mirrored (gathers that end up in a more fitted element, the top hem and the skirt yoke). I used a beautiful deadstock grey chiffon fabric with subtle pink flowers bought from @textiles_marina #isew #sewist #memade #madebyme #handmadewardrobe #slowfashion #thanksimadeit #millenialsewing #sewistsofinstagram #greecesews #athenssews #ραπτική #sewingpattern #newsewingpattern #fibremood #fibremooded29 #fibremoodlinkparty #fibremoodmagazine #linkparty #sew #sewing #twopieceset

My addiction to sheer things is still holding up strong! I had this gorgeous embroidered chiffon from @yfasmata_anagnwstou in my stash for quite some time until I came up with the perfect pairing: the Wyn dress #wyndress by @soften_studio ! The pattern is simple enough in shape to let the fabric shine. Simple but not boring at all! Dartless bodice with a hint of sleeves that is connected to gathered skirt panels, plus a cord channel to cinch more, according to personal preference. In order to sew with chiffon I did some mods: First of all, as usual with sheer fabrics, I have French seamed everything, from the bodice to the gathers! The pattern includes 1/2” seam allowance for the back and side seams, so instead of overlocking, I enclosed all seams. I didn’t use the neckline facing pieces because I thought it wouldn’t look that nice in a transparent fabric. Instead, I used bias binding, and left long ties from each side instead of button and loop. For the waist cord I used natural cotton rope cause I liked the look! I made a size 10. When I make it again I will lengthen a bit the bodice because I have noticed that it sits higher on me compared to other versions, due to my bust. The fabric although very pretty, was hard to work with cause it has all these beautiful embroidered sections that make it stiff and not easy to iron or gather. But overall I love my new dress, it’s so swishy! One of my favorite things is also the deep hem! Because of the sheerness, I usually wear it with my trustworthy beige #crosbybiasdress by @thepatternline that you can’t really see in the photos 😅 but I am planning to post all about it soon 👀 Pattern: #wyndress @soften_studio Fabric: @yfasmata_anagnwstou #isew #memade #memadeeveryday #handmadewardrobe #slowfashion #thanksimadeit #millenialsewing #imakemyownclothes #sewistsofinstagram #greecesews #athenssews #ραπτική #ραβω #sewityourself #sewingpattern #embroideredchiffon #colornude #frenchseams #sewingproject #sewing

The elastic waist #tapiocatrousers are here! The newest pattern by @jessilous_closet which is an elastic waist variation of the original Tapioca pants released today and I had the pleasure to test them before they go public! I can safely say that they are my newest and comfiest secret pyjamas! They are also versatile! I have worn them for a full day, from morning at the office till evening drinks and they easily passed the test! You can make them in a variety of fabrics, check out other testers versions for inspo! I made a straight size 8 tapered version in a beautiful pinstripe jacquard viscose/rayon from @textiles_marina (can you spot the subtle brown flowers??)! This fabric is perfect for summer pants, they are a little thicker than normal viscose, but at the same time very breezy and light! I also did a decent effort for some stripe matching at the pockets! As always Jess’s pattern tests are a very joyful experience and her presence, kindness and responsiveness are admirable!🥰🥰 I love my tapiocas and I can’t wait to finally sew the originals as well (pattern pieces cut two months ago 👀) Congrats Jess on another amazing pattern! 🎉🤩😍 #isew #sewist #memade #madebyme #handmadewardrobe #slowfashion #thanksimadeit #millenialsewing #sewistsofinstagram #greecesews #athenssews #ραπτική #ραβω #sewityourself #sewingpattern #patterntester #patterntesting #newpattern #pattertest #tapiocatrousers

The tulip top is here! Happy release day to Michelle @_fortiv_ for this beautiful corset style top! I was part of the testing team for this pattern and I can safely say it’s one of the most versatile patterns I have lately sewn (swipe to see why!👉) First of all, the #fortivtuliptop is fully reversible! Actually the black side is my cotton lining side but I loved it so much with the white contrast topstitching that I wear it more often than the “right side” which is a grey denim upcycled from an old but untouched men’s jeans. I even cut my denim back piece centered around a flat felled seam because I liked the look. I topstitched the denim with black thread and white bobbin thread for the black side. I made a size M according to my measurements and chose to install grommets. I am glad I did because the bodice sides are already very close together and if I had used the fabric ties, I should have sized down to be able to lace up more tightly. I used cup size A-D. The construction of the top is very interesting. It involves some hand stitching for the lining that I actually enjoyed. Plus towards the end of sewing there is a very satisfying step of topstitching almost all around the front and back bodice without stopping, which to me it proves how well thought the pattern is! Worn here with #bobpants and #justmyluckjeans Swipe for more pics with different styles! PS: one more reason to love the #fortivtuliptop is because of Michelle actively supporting 🍉🍉 #isew #sewist #memade #madebyme #handmadewardrobe #slowfashion #thanksimadeit #millenialsewing #sewistsofinstagram #greecesews #athenssews #ραπτική #ραβω #sewityourself #sewingpattern #patterntester #patterntesting #newpattern #pattertest #corsettop

Say hello to the newest (or should I say the first I know of?) hiking-climbing pants pattern! Today is the release day of the #lmtopopants by the talented @leila.makes which is Leila’s first garment pattern! 🥳🥳🥳 I had the pleasure to be one of her testers and I have been wearing these pants non stop since I made them! The pattern is gender neutral and comes in two views, the view A (the one I made) which is more of a hiking-utility pants with double fronts and the view B, the climbers view, that also has double fronts plus darted knees. It was my first time sewing double fronts and I love the look! For me the Topo pants are serving as all-day pants! Except for hiking I have worn them at the office and for dinner as well! Due to the amount of ease and the little stretch of the fabric, they feel soft and very comfy. I made a straight size 10. Leila has been very responsive, supportive and present throughout testing. But most importantly she takes feedback into serious consideration! During testing, many testers (me included) found the back dipping quite low, and needed to do a full seat adjustment. Leila took this into consideration and has revised the final pattern adding 1/2” to the back seat. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to sew a second pair to nail the fit, but I am planning to draft a gusset and try to raise the back a little bit on these (thanks @seam.science for the suggestion ❤️❤️!). I will report back when I do! Of course I am planning to sew a second pair with the adjustment in the future. Fabric is a beige gabardine with a little stretch that I had in my stash for ages. It has some drape, that I didn’t initially love but it has kinda grown on me. I used a brown topstitching thread for some contrast, although it’s difficult to see from my photos. Congrats again Leila on your beautiful pattern release!🥳🥳🥳 Can’t wait to make and see more topos out there! #isew #sewist #memade #madebyme #handmadewardrobe #slowfashion #thanksimadeit #millenialsewing #sewistsofinstagram #greecesews #ραπτική #ραβω #sewityourself #sewingpattern #patterntester #patterntesting #newpattern #pattertest #hikingpants #climbingpants #sewingproject #sewing

French seaming a split hem can be a little tricky but if you do it once, then it’s a breeze! I know French seams are usually found in sheer or delicate fabrics, but why not do them in cottons or linens too? I was gifted this beautiful fabric from @fiberstofabric ! I had a hard time choosing one, because their selection is wild! Plus they give info about the Pantone color, so no nasty color surprises here! Eventually I decided on this salmon block cotton with beautiful gold and red floral details and sewed the #genrashirt by @daughterjudypatterns with short sleeves. The Genra shirt needs no introductions, the camp collar and the distinctive lines and shape have made it a community favorite for a reason! Back to French seams, the pattern indicates the split hem points, so first you sew wrong sides together till 1/2” above the split point and then you pivot and angle the seam towards that point (when you reach it you stop sewing). Then you snip just underneath the angled seam and turn right sides together. You sew again ending the seam at the split hem point. Then you press the little triangles inside and turn the fabric twice on the inside and hem the splits as usual! As I dive deeper in my sewing journey, my appreciation for beautiful finishes is constantly growing! Especially when the fabric is also slowly and ethically made like those from @fiberstofabric , I think it deserves a little extra! It’s finally the release day for this stunner! Happy release day to @ose__patterns for the YMA dress #oseyma !🎉🥳 A few months ago I had the absolute pleasure of testing this new beautiful summer dress and to say I love it would be an understatement!🤩 First of all let me just start by saying that I am wearing no bra (in a linen dress, who would have thought??🤩), because YMA bodice is designed so well that it gives the necessary support and it is offered in 4 different cup sizes. There is no boning in the dress! The four piece bust and the waist piece are tightly fitted onto the body and they feel really secure and nice! I don’t recall any other woven, tightly fitting pattern without boning fitting me so well in the bust area. And in linen! Amazing! Monty really knows what she’s doing 🥰🥰 The skirt consists of several panels and flares just a bit. Also there is a high slit on the right side that is both functional and beautiful! I lowered it a bit to make it more everyday appropriate. There is an invisible zipper for closure in the left side seam. The fabric is a linen cotton blend from @tsagrinos.textiles that is very soft and opaque! I fully interfaced the outer bodice pieces for more support and full opaqueness, because.. no bra! I honestly love this dress and want to make it in every color! Congrats Monty!! #newpattern #patterntesting #patterntest #robeyma #osepatterns #ymadress #isewmyownclothes #isew #isewedthis #memade #memademay #memadewardrobe #memademay2024 #greecesews #thanksimadeit #millenialsewing #sewistsofinstagram #handmade #sewsewsew #sewing

I had the absolute pleasure to collaborate with @fiberstofabric that has a large collection of beautiful fabrics made in India! Their fabrics are so gorgeous that I had a hard time choosing one, but most importantly they are ethically and slowly made (check @fiberstofabric account for some fabric blocking BTS). I decided on this lovely salmon cotton with blocked elements in gold and red. The fabric is so soft and beautiful that it’s hard to be captured on the photos. I was contemplating what I should make to do it justice and my first @daughterjudypatterns #genrashirt was born! Swipe to see the three different ways I am wearing my shirt! Loose, half tucked in and fully tucked in. The pattern is so versatile and I love its design elements, its famous camp collar and the proportions. I am also a huge fan of the double topstitching and the front facing single topstitching, a distinctive feature of this shirt that perfectly complements its other elements. The front hem is lifting a bit due to my bust size, but I already knew this would probably happen. It’s fine, but next time I might add a bust dart, a process extensively described by @guroflaten in @backstitch.app (🤩🎉 ) Also, as a huge fan of pretty guts, I french seamed everything. In order to do the side seams, it occurred to me that I already know how to do french seams on a side seam with a split hem, from the #hallondress , so I followed these instructions (also Guro has a highlight suggesting an alternative way to cleanly finish seams ending in a split so check it out)! Overall I am very happy with my new shirt and I am sure it will get tons of wear during the summer as the cotton is so breezy and light! Styled here with my favorite #justmyluckjeans by @forest.and.thread which has become a wardrobe favorite!😍 Big shirt big pants is a new to me style but I like the vibe! #isew #sewist #memade #madebyme #handmadewardrobe #slowfashion #thanksimadeit #millenialsewing #sewistsofinstagram #greecesews #athenssews #ραπτική #ραβω #sewityourself #sewingpattern #fiberstofabric #salmoncolor #bigshirtbigpants #horseshoejeans #campshirtdress #campcollar #memademay2024
