‘Cherubs Basking’ This one was fun, I definitely spent a long time on it bcs I’ve been too ill to really get into my pieces. Ibis says I spent 4 and a half hours on it but it was over the course of a few days. This was kind of made as a way to conceptualize my feelings on religion. The boy cherub is Christianity and the girl cherub is Cosmopsychism but they’re both facing the same light, just at different angles. There’s no book, only flowers, and their robes are layered differently. The boy’s robe has a cross and the top layer opens his chest (to symbolize hyper-socialization); while the girl’s robes are crossed against her chest (to symbolize introspection). They’re holding hands and under an arch to symbolize unity, and in silent prayer to symbolize the individuality and difference in their prayer without conflict. I feel both of them sometimes, and I have to remind myself that it doesn’t matter the words or names you use when talking about life and the world, just that the flowers ‘reach both sides’ (you’re spreading positivity and goodness).
