With austerity for over a decade-plus causing the rise of usage in food banks, along with the rapid cost-of-living crisis, the collective of Crocodile Nightmares, Mark Kellett, Strong Island Recordings, Velvet Candy and Vol. Promo respectively have decided to join forces once again for another edition of the Interstellar Food Drive, taking place at The Dockyard Club in Southsea 21 October. Joining us for the day is noise-hardcore-punk outfit Scab, new ravey krautrock cosmonauts Lipworms, local legends Paul Groovy and The Pop Art Experience and their brand of frenzied garage and surf-punk, the whimsical Vashti Bunyan-esque-folk sounds of Megan Linford, instrumental surf outfit The Gary 7, the grunge-fuzz pop goodness of Rose’s Diary, psychedelic-space-rock riot Lytupp, 60s like psychedelic-poppers Number 9, Southampton shoegazers Burning House, and the gothic-tinged dreampop outfit Making Eyes. The Interstellar Food Drive was birthed out of previous food bank drive events from over the years, which has seen the likes of Drug Store Romeos, Dead Rabbits, Hotel Lux, Melt Dunes, and Pregoblin play the food bank fundraiser. The 2020 version, due to the Covid-19 pandemic took place online and featured the likes of Lime Garden, Rosie Alena, TV Priest, Lynks, Jessica Winter, Ugly, Thyla, Maripool, Breathe Panel, Public Body and lots more emerging artists from the UK, as well as international acts including BADGERS, Sunfruits, Dear Doonan and Tropa Magica.
