Calling all 14-18 year old photographers, submissions are now open for OPEN24 Young Photographers 📸 This is an exciting opportunity for young people living in the Portsmouth area to exhibit their works at Aspex as part of the Photo Fringe photography festival. The Aspex team are out and about in Portsmouth for a jam packed weekend of community, creativity and art We’re excited to be joining the fun at this weekend's @portsfest , with a special offsite Family Saturdays session followed by the Mardi Gras parade. Get creative with us as we make our own props for the parade. We’ll be hosting drop-in sessions at the Wedgewood Rooms from 10.30am - 1pm this Saturday 29 June, before we head over to Wimbledon Park for the parade which starts from 3pm. You can also drop by the @hotwallsstudios where you’ll find us at the Summer Creative Market. Featuring over 35 traders, live music and open artist studios, we’re excited to be hosting a pop-up Aspex shop where you can find a curated selection of gifts, prints, homewares and more. Home is not a place, home is a sound, a feeling, a person, a sanctuary where a community belongs 🧡 Step into the immersive world of ‘Our Sanctuary,’ our latest exhibition combining poetry, soundscapes, and virtual reality to shed light on migration, exile, and belonging. Inspired by Refugee Week’s theme ‘Our Home’ and Johnny Pitts’ works “Home is not a place,” this new exhibition features works co-created by sanctuary seekers during collaborative sessions with artists Michelle Ezeuko and Lara Kobeissi. Together, we explore what home means to Portsmouth’s migrant community. On display in the Communal Space until July 14, admission is free and donations are greatly appreciated.
