Happy Independence day! Many pets become lost on July 4th due to the stress induced by the loud celebration. Use these helpful tips to keep your furry friends safe and at home this year.
💜 Keep pets indoors - Even in fenced yards, pets may become so spooked that they could escape and become lost. It is best to keep all pets indoors during firework displays.
💜 Create a comforting space - Set up a comfortable room or crate in your house just for them. Noise from a radio or TV can help diffuse the sound of fireworks. Provide your pets with plenty of toys and treats to keep them entertained and busy.
💜 Escape-proof your home - Fireworks can cause some pets to panic even when indoors. To prevent escapes, ensure all windows and doors are closed and secured. If your pet escapes, and becomes lost, register them with #PetcoLoveLost by clicking the link in our bio!
💜 Update pet identification - Identification is important in the event of separation. Make sure ID tags on collars are up to date and verify that microchips are current.

So many adorable dogs available for adoption during Empty The Shelters! Thanks to the @bissellpets and @cathy_bissell , who are sponsoring adoptions all month-long, we are able to reduce adoption fees to help our shelter capacity. 🙏 We are open 12pm - 5pm Tuesday through Sunday for pet adoption! Adoption fees during ETS:
🐶 Dogs five months or older - FREE
🐱 All cats and kittens - FREE
🐶 Puppies four months or younger - $25
🐶🐱 All PURRFURRED pets - FREE
As always, regardless of special promotions, you must fill out an adoption application and be prepared to speak to our staff! To adopt you must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid, government issued photo ID. Our staff will review the pet’s details with you to ensure that you are prepared to be as successful as possible with your new pet! Please allow at least one hour to interact with our available animals, speak to our medical team if necessary, and complete the adoption process.

Exciting news! Thanks to support from @bissellpets we will be starting Empty The Shelters a week early! Join us this July as we team up with BISSELL Pet Foundation for their nationwide Empty the Shelters event! From July 2-31, BARC will be reducing adoption fees to help pets find their forever homes. 🏡🐶🐱
