LONDON. BUSH HALL. MY BACK YARD. when I was 11 i used to gig around the west london indie music circuit with bands twice my age. West was a creative party Bohemia in late 2000s/early 2010s. I could only gig the outdoor community events bc I was too young to play the proper clubs n venues the older bands would go to later that night. I was so jealous. In that 2nd photo 11 year old me is round the corner from one specific venue where some of the greatest debut albums of all time were performed. that venue is called @bushhallmusic …it’s only right that the homecoming show to my debut album headline is at Bush Hall. It couldn’t be anywhere else. I’m a total nerd for Bush Hall’s architecture, the history behind the Edwardian dancehall (built 1901) turned 1940s post war soup kitchen, turned 1950/60s Bingo Hall, turned 90s Snooker club…and finally in 2001 it transformed to “Bush Hall” a grassroots live venue that’s hosted performances that went down in music history. Amy. Paul Weller. Oasis. Lily. Courtney. There’s something about those regal walls that make the room so theatrical. It’s the perfect space for me to tell you the story of STARFACE. Unfortunately our beloved venue @bushhallmusic has been at risk of shutting down. So many of my local grassroots venue that was around back then are gone now. Felt like everything moved east. Bush is one of the last grassroots venue of that capacity standing round here and we’re not gunna let it go anywhere! I hope to see you at my show!
