Here's the third of our artist led workshops on Stage 3!
Korean Traditional Ritual Workshop with Sangjaru
Sangjaru, renowned for their fusion of contemporary sounds with Korean traditional music, invites you to delve into the essence of their song 'Jisin RV.’ This song holds dual significance: firstly, symbolizing 'Jisin-Balpgi,' the ancient practice of banishing evil spirits from earthly realms, deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of Gyeonsangbuk-do. Secondly, it pays homage to the legendary Blues Guitarist, 'S.R.V.'
In this immersive workshop, Sangjaru invites everyone to join in and experience the Korean traditional way of blessing each other through the traditional 'Jisin-Balpgi' ritual. Participants are encouraged to bring percussion instruments to actively participate in the ritual (and banish any evil spirits!), and Sangjaru will teach all about Korean traditional rhythm.

Only a month to go until Cambridge Folk Festival 2024 🪗🎟 Can you believe it!
What's the first thing you do when you get to the festival grounds, do you find your festival friends or peruse the programme? Are you heading straight to the front of stage one, or going to grab a drink? Do you tackle putting up the tent or are you called to the ceilidh?
Whatever it is, we want to know!
