We went On The Record with @tysegall to talk about his new record ‘Three Bells,’ the evolution of his sound career over the course of fifteen albums, and the importance of collaboration in music. Listen to the full conversation on our YouTube channel—link in bio.
On her 1976 album debut, Troubadour, self-made travelling musician and folklorist Dorothy Carter wanders the world’s vanished landscapes and their traditional ways, playing songs from all over on her varieties of hammered dulcimer and psaltery: Appalachian folk tunes, old and ancient psalms and hymns, Scottish and French melodies and a few of her own songs for good measure. Over 45 years later, Troubadour stands as an epochal folk exegesis for our new age.

The sun rises again - but this time, we don’t have to wonder what might have been and instead focus with clarity of purpose on what will BE: guitarist Lee Underwood’s 1988 acoustic guitar opus, California Sigh, sees its first-ever release on LP and TSP (Them Streaming Platforms, eh?) TODAY.
Lee Underwood’s syncretic blend of jazz, folk, and blues was a seismic force propelling Tim Buckley’s genre-stretching late 60s/early 70s music to the far cosmos – but Lee’s mid-80s return to planetary space with California Sigh - a meditation upon the land with folk and ambient healing musics, co-produced by Steve Roach - has remained a unsung footnote to his story. Until now!
Let forth with a deep California Sigh, link in bio to purchase and listen!
Turn the key and walk into your future! Chris Corsano’s feverish essay on drumming (or album stream, as some of you no doubt call it), The Key (Became the Important Thing [& Then Just Faded Away]) is literally AHT NAH!!!
Chris’ solo approach here is rooted in an exploration of extended technique with an invention of his own - the string-drum - pulling his abiding focus on free improvisation and noise into a trian-granular fusion of acoustic experiments and hot-wired ideations of hard rock riffing and the post-punk sound. All in one encompassing one-man band!
Get your copy of The Key (Became the Important Thing [& Then Just Faded Away]) today! And when you play it, say it! The whole title, please. And then you too will know that the world can know... Link in bio
Well it’s officially out today: Shackleton & Six Organs of Admittance - Jinxed By Being. You can check it out wherever you listen to things and also available on DBL LP on @dragcityrecords . Sam pretty much produced this thing and he was a fan of early era 6Ø so in a way this has the acid cult folk vibes of my early stuff with a real forward looking sound with bass, rhythms and vibes unique to Shackleton. Kind of surreal to finally have it in the world when it was recorded so long ago (started planning it Dec of 2020). Thanks all who have offered kind words on the release already. Sam and I are stoked. Front cover painting by Marian Wawrzeniecki (1910). Back cover collage by Steve Quenell @qthewingedserpent (2023). If you haven’t checked out Shackleton yet, you have a whole great world of records waiting for you.
Wandies - and the conceivable rest of you! Here’s a pre-order bonus offer for they who want to raise the level on their album experience. Take a look - all items come branded to represent for their boggling new album; also with a really, kind of absurd sense of aesthetics - impeccable ones, yeah - intelligently designed to make you go Hmmm-into-HAAAAAAA - ahhhhh!
It’s not the heat, it’s the Vertigo! Bundle yours up now y’all! Linkin bio -
Cemented as a dynamite triad and fully locked in since 2018, the Nathan Bowles Trio set the table for their upcoming album, Are Possible, with a tender new single and music video today: “Our Air”
Are Possible captures Nathan on the banjo, keys, percussion, and a custom mellowtone, with Rex seated on the kit and Casey handling double bass and guitar; Skylar Gudasz’s flute sneaks in on track ‘Our Air’ to light up a soulful aroma.
