Big John died peacefully on Thursday afternoon.
Play the Music loud and Raise a glass of bourbon, recall the stories he told from the bar, feel the belly aches of laughter, and the joy so full of heart, he may be gone from this rotten land but he will stay in our heads & hearts forever. Rest in peace & love Dad 💔
The landlady ♥️ rest in love & peace mum.
Our mum Sue bossed it behind the Cellar bar from 1977 to 1984 the amount of bands she has seen play at the Hope and beyond is astronomical.
Her Chilli Con Carne, Lasagne & Macaroni Cheese were legendary in certain circles during the 90s and 2000’s but most of all she was the best Mum & Grandnan in the world 🌍 and she and my dad will be missed more than our hearts can cope with.
♥️💔♥️
Goodbye Shane ♥️ rest in peace & love.
Shane on and off stage at the Hope he was a familiar presence at the bar for many years all our love to his family and friends.
Life from behind the Bar
Back in the days basic maths and memory were essential, no calculator, no computerised tills, deafening live music every night, seeing a glimpse of the band through the fog of cigarette smoke.
The scent of bourbon wafting through the air.
Still awake at 3 or 4am, head whirling and buzzing with the ups and downs of the evening, eat sleep and repeat. ♥️
