Three archers. Looking east. This painting wasn’t necessarily finished when @an_zorge.studio came and collected it the other day for her exhibitio. It’s not that I wasn’t happy with it but it was still in the studio and I could still make changes whenever I liked, I think it’s still slightly wet in these photos. Somehow the sky keeps changing in this one, I must have cut in the edges of the bows/arms about 5 times… some times these things go right first time round, some times they don’t…. When the paintings are presented like this, on walls, they pass a certain barrier. They become finished in some way, even if I didn’t know it before. Three archers, in a line, looking east, weeping, 2024 Oil on panel, 87x63cm On the walls of @theadelaidesalon this week. Message for info

“Three rings, one is solid and concrete, one is disappearing in a few minutes and one is what we stand in.” Here I am I in front of my painting at @theadelaidesalon on Saturday night taken by @freddiejwatts . It was so nice to meet new people and talk about artwork in that setting. I’m really happy to be showing this new work with all these greens. It’s been really good to paint recently and I’ve enjoyed having a bit more scale to enjoy, although my heart loves the tiny things it’s really nice to cover big walls at the moment too. Please get in contact about available works or enquiries of any kind. .:. Also I’m in london tomorrow but back in the studio on Wednesday when I will be shipping works out and working out when to stop posting photos online..

And now as the year turns the sky falls. .:. I’ve had this painting for a few months now. Slowly hacking away at it in the studio. I think I must have started it from initial sketches in January and it was wonderful to show it the other night at the Adelaide studio alongside some other wonderful artists and conversations. I hope you can follow along with the progression of that project I know pascal and Paulina have some wonderful projects to come. .:. I have a catalog of new works presented here alongside some works from the studio which I will post in due course. Please message me for the catalog. The sound of steel poles hitting a concrete floor. .:. I will be showing some painting this week in Hove. Please message for info. .:. Experience is creative practice. Trying to experience more fully over and over. Same goes for life advice. Travel broadens the mind…Knowledge is power…practice makes perfect.. all these things hint at a kind of shared memory. Something that we all agree on. Some participatory part of being alive which grows only through experience. .:. I’ve really enjoyed taking work on boards and then cutting it up into sections to rearrange the significance of the composition. This is a destructive act, but it creates a new work. In this way it preserves the essence of the work more fully. Composition happens best when I’m alone with the work. Composition can also trap some inherent gesture/expression to the work which then lies in the background. just behind the living world. Instagram is putting music to my artworks now but I’m not resisting, because I’m a modern man. Boy of the web. Digital guy.

Last few days to see TASTE by @ohshprojects and @wonzimer in LA, a group show of sculpture and paintings. On view to the public today and Sunday June 16th 12-7pm. The works I am showing are a series of small scale oil on panel paintings and figures cast in lead solder. I made the paintings in the months leading up to the show after a series of dreams/night visions/hallucinations late at night in the early spring. The figures ib these paintings almost pass between the boundaries of each frame, into the world. A kind of embodiment of the thoughts/hallucinations that contoured them… something I have been interested in since I was very young. It’s been an immense pleasure to see these works sent across the sea to be shown to a new audience alongside such a strong set of companions. A real dream. Go see it if you happen to be in Los Angeles California. .:. 341-B S Avenue 17, Los Angeles, CA 90031, United States .:. IT CALLS WITH A SOUND OF WATER RUSHING DOWN A DEEP WIDE HOLE. “I opened my eyes again and again and again.” The days spent here pass like they play by different rules. There’s never enough time in the summer. It all stacks up for winter when the light goes away. So that’s it, you get light and time and they play tricks on each other. Maybe they stand back to back so only one can show its face at any given moment. I stare at walls. I stare at bits of earth on bits of walls all day watching paint dry. And I’m so so grateful for that. For the chance to be alive. The chance to witness thoughts inside a head made of billions of different bits of dust. Moving yet more billions of bits of dust with more thoughts..

When the voice of the spirit speaks louder than that of the material. .:. Studio visit/portraits from @edmasonphoto with some works in progress. Ive known Ed for ages, his insights are always so inspiring when we talk about art/process/wilderness. An invaluable voice in the forest. .:. I’ve been thinking about the seeking mentality, how we’re hard wired to see figures/faces/shapes in images and how much I’m lead by that seeking. These figures have spirit in them that’s hard to ignore. I’m working with that spirit always. The last few days have been a real pause for reflection. It’s easy to forget to take breaks sometimes and it’s tricky to get my head around how counterintuitive that always seems… but in the long run… .:.
