I’m working with @lidlgb , official partner of UEFA EURO 2024™️ for fresh fruit and vegetables, to showcase how you as athletes and footballers can improve your overall health by eating a variety of fresh fruits and veggies.
Like our favourite footballers, choosing a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables help supports overall health as well as athletic performance. Different coloured fruits and veggies contain different phytonutrients and add a range of essential vitamins and minerals into our diets. Eating a variety not only benefits our overall health but provides a diverse range of fibre to feed our gut microbiome.
Try adding in bananas and avocado for essential electrolytes like potassium and magnesium.
Enjoy carrots and sweet potato for vitamin A that helps support immune function.
Leafy green veggies are packed with fibre, vitamin K and nitrates that can help lower oxygen demand when exercising.
Additionally, fruits and veggies are a great source of carbohydrate in our diet, our body’s preferred energy source. Snacking on fresh fruit and vegetables pre or post exercise is a great way to fuel your body, alongside lean proteins, wholegrains and healthy fats!
