We were so lucky to get a copy of Hex Effects by @pillboxgames the same people that brought you Side Effects and Mud. Hex effects is a great easy to learn take that game that’s inspired by @pillboxgames hit Side Effects. The rules are similar to Side Effects with a more light hearted theme. While the theme of Side Effects may not be for everyone Hex Effects is fun for all ages. Each player is dealt 4 hexes and has to draft cards to try to cure them, all while trying to mess with the other players by inflicting hexes on them. It’s a great game for a group of gamers and non gamers alike. @pillboxgames has some amazing design and quality production. It’s worth picking up to check out the amazing artwork on each card. New game alert!! Phoenix Farm Creator: @librarium_games Phil’s thoughts🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 We had to opportunity to try out Phoenix Farm from @librarium_games games. Phoenix Farm is a great dice rolling race to gain the most gold coins by raising Adorable Phoenix chick to mature adult. The game is broken down into two phases morning and night. In the morning you can farm or go to the market. If you farm you will be rolling dice to see if you can upgrade your phoenix. If you shop at the market you can purchase tools used to upgrade your phoenix. At night you can farm and forage. Overall Phoenix Farms is a quick dice rolling race to score the most points. It’s easy to learn and jump right into. Works well at all player counts. Hayley’s thoughts 🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨 Phoenix Farm is big on charm when it comes to design. The illustrations are clean, cute, and lend themselves well to quickly understanding the mechanics of raising a fiery feathered friend. There is a sense of accomplishment each time you turn over a farm tool to see your phoenix chick grow to adulthood. Spending feathers, upgrading equipment and leveling up is fun to track as well using the player mats.

It’s been too long since we’ve posted some art, so here you go. 🎨🎨🎨 Phil’s thoughts🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Drylands is a great two player Chinese checkers style game where one player plays as the desert and the other the grasslands ecosystems. Each turn you can grow your ecosystem or leap to another space further away. When there are no more moves the game ends. The player with the empathy of the ecosystem pieces on the board wins. Drylands is a great take on a classic game. It really incorporates the theme very well. @montrosbiology designed one of our favorite games ecologies and this one does not disappoint. Definitely check out and support small game publishers. Hayley’s thoughts 🎨🎨🎨🎨🎨 The art of Dry Lands has an almost retro nature illustration feel to it, beautifully rendered and warm. It takes a simple checkers-like concept but fills it with lush detail. The river, jungle, mountain, and desert biomes are each uniquely inhabited by the species that thrive there. Shout out to @montrosebiology for sending us a copy. We absolutely love all the games they come out with.
