“I love to make mood boards that represent myself and my interests, incorporating different things to make them harmoniously come together.” —@luvofbows (Haillee Lawson) Relatable memes and fashion themes inform Haillee’s aesthetic and everyday creativity. “I love when things can be light and dainty but are still able to convey different meanings and feelings,” says Haillee, who attends a visual arts-focused high school where she studies photography. In seventh grade, Haillee developed alopecia areata. “I always had curly hair. Losing something so important to my self-appearance and daily routine — one of my favorite things about myself — really took a toll,” she says. “It came to a point where I was just sick of seeing a part of myself wither away, so I decided to shave my head. After finally not having to constantly worry about losing myself, I had to regain my self-confidence, and work at loving myself and accepting the situation. I feel that because I have so much of a creative background and my own style, I convey myself in ways that I like, and freely express myself.” Video by @luvofbows

“To me, Pride Month is a celebration of authenticity, love, freedom, empowerment and friendship,” says London-based photographer @danielhousley (Daniel Chek-Shu Housley), who explores themes of identity, sexuality and culture in his work. In the last three years, Daniel’s focus has turned to subjects in the LGBTQ+ community specifically — at a time where he says he began to flourish and come into his true self.⁣ ⁣ “Photography has not only allowed me to express myself creatively but also to connect with others in the LGBTQ+ community. I’ve been lucky enough to meet idols, trailblazers and even future friends through photography — and through community events and social media, have connected with other creatives similarly eager to make our mark in the community.”⁣ ⁣ In addition to drawing inspiration from artists like film director Wong Kar-Wai and photographer Leslie Zhang, Daniel says he’s most inspired by his closest friends. “I think when you have a special connection with someone it will always show in the images.”⁣ ⁣ Photos by @danielhousley

Japanese visual artist @tomorokinoshita ’s (Tomoro Kinoshita) intricately detailed, brightly colored compositions are dotted with uniquely patterned creatures and humanoid life forms. “In this other world, various creatures of different species coexist, recognizing each other’s individuality, living altruistically and supporting each other. This place is my utopia. Every creature has a sense of solitude, facing their own emotions and imagining a bright future,” says Tomoro, who blends illustrations with 3D computer graphics. “Most of my inspiration comes from the games and anime I played when I was a child, but I place particular emphasis on people’s daily lives and the ecology of living things. I want people to feel close to nature by looking at my works, and to explore the beauty of the mysterious nature of the real world by observing them. I create my works with great attention to detail so that they don’t get boring even if you look at them for a long time. I would like people to take their time to look at them carefully and enjoy them.” Art by @tomorokinoshita
