While scrolling for inspiration, I stumbled across the @fibremood #clemencetop , which I had printed last year - but forgot about! Instead of tracing the pattern as I usually do, I threw caution to the wind and cut the paper. My toile needed some length adjustments so I had the pattern reprinted and sized up to a medium for this one. I added 4cm to the length of the sleeves and extended the top length by 5cm as I omitted the band. I had this very cool fabric in my stash that I purchased last year from @lushfabricsaustralia and I am so happy with the results. I probably could have lined the fabric, but I intend to layer over long sleeved tops, so it’s not a big deal. Although I don’t wear them often, I do love a floral print, and when I saw the gorgeous bright colours of this Fairy Godmother Bettina Floral Viscose from @cloth_edit I thought it would make a lovely #pebemineballoonsleevetop . I have only recently started sewing with viscose, and I really like the drape and the way it feels on the skin. May has been a crazy month and I just realised the I hadn’t posted this #pesweetcheekssweater ! I made the ultra cropped version although next time I may add an extra centimetre or two. The purple braid jacquard from @lushfabricsaustralia works beautifully with ribbing from @wattlehillfabrics for the neckband and cuffs. ANZAC day today in Australia, so I feel these pants are very appropriate. I bought this beautiful poppy print linen from @potter_and_co_australia a couple of years ago to make a dress… but decided it would be better suited for pants. As a self-confessed lover of interesting shaped pants, I was drawn to the details of the #archerworkpants from @matchymatchysewingclub . Over the years I have made a few different elastic waisted pants, but they never fitted me particularly well. These ones however, were a different story as the waistband is part of the pants so I don’t have bunching fabric at the back. Plus, the barrel shaped leg gives a streamlined curve over my saddle bags. The only tweaks I made was to add 5cm to the length and omit the front pockets. The @chalkandnotch #cnmaxtee is definitely my favourite top. I made this one at the end of last year, and it is such a versatile piece. It looks great on its own or layered over a shirt as a vest as the weather gets cooler. The thing I love most about it is that it really suits my body shape. Why? Because the strong shoulder line provides width to my upper body, resulting in a better proportion and balance. Oh my gosh… I didn’t realise it had been so long between posts! Yes, I have been sewing, but I am spending more time daydreaming and planning my makes, and thinking about fun ways to wear them. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would wear a button down shirt, but I actually quite like them. Case in point, I made this dress with a low V neck and added 8cm to the sleeve length so the shirt cuff peeks out. It felt a little underdone but with the addition of the spotty bow, I feel it looks complete. Creative, elegant and chic or modern Mary Poppins - I love it either way! Boy, do I love a good jumpsuit! And aside from maxi dresses, they are my favourite garments to sew and wear - especially in Summer. The #carmeljumpsuit from @ninaleelondon has been on my make list for a while, but I have been waiting for the right fabric to come along - so when I saw this Rayon Crepon from @lushfabricsaustralia - I thought they would be perfect together. This was my first time sewing Rayon Crepon, and I have to ask - where have you been all my life? Not only is this a beautiful and cool fabric to wear (especially during the hot, muggy Brisbane Summer), but the drape and softness against the skin are magical - and the swoosh of the fabric is epic! I am really happy with the finished garment, but I will size down when I next sewup this pattern as there is lots of ease. I have this nifty little clip I got from @dogstarclothing which I attached at the back to give it some waist shaping - perfect solution! Shoutout to @hummingbirdtheshop for the fabulous silver necklace purchased late last year. I don’t know about you, but I love the ease of a dress - being able to throw it on, add some simple accessories and you are ready to walk out the door and take on the world! This gorgeous DTY fabric from @lushfabricsaustralia was the inspiration for this make. As the print is quite big and interesting, I chose the #peloungedress - a simple silhouette with no waist seam to keep the integrity of the fabric. I added 40cm to the length as I love a good maxi, as well as shoulder pads for a little more drama. Not only does this elevate the look but gives more balance to my triangle shape. Since completion, I have worn this dress heaps - down the coast, to the dentist, shopping and running errands.
