"Greetings to the Christian community on its celebration of the Holy feast of Corpus Christi – 2024 from the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, my family, and myself as Prime Minister. Today is another sacred celebration for the community, which connects to the commemoration of the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the symbolisms of his blood and body, and the covenant that followed. The official name of the celebration is the “Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.” It is revered as a holy day of obligation, and also a day of thanksgiving for communion and choosing to honour the Blessed Sacrament." "Fellow citizens, greetings to the East Indian community as they celebrate the one hundred-and-seventy-ninth anniversary, since their first ancestors came to Trinidad on this date, May 30, 1845. Examining the history of those ancestors, one must marvel at the bold, daring risk they undertook - their fearlessness and courage. They were agriculture workers and persons from India’s labouring class, who were enticed to leave their homes, thousands of miles away – most from villages in Utter Pradesh and Bihar in northern India, others from Calcutta and the southern regions." The Government and people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago extend greetings to the Muslim community on the celebration of the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr. These greetings are also from members of my own family and myself, as Prime Minister. On this public holiday, the rest of the population joins in various ways, sharing and respecting the joyous traditions of its Muslim brothers and sisters. We share, too, in your traditions of gratitude to Allah, and recognise your expressions of thanksgiving, communal sharing of meals, and generous gifts of charity to the less fortunate. Trinidad and Tobago is a land of religious diversity and traditions, and it is praiseworthy that we can share with you as you recognise the omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence of an infinitely loving God.
