What's the next eurogame you're going to play❓️ Pulsar 2849 | THOUGHTS by Vladimír Suchý published by @czech_games_edition 🚀 Here's our suggestion❗️Might not be a hot take anymore and there's a chance you've never heard of Pulsar 2849 before. But that only makes things more interesting. Here's why: 🟢 16 actions per game might feel a bit too tight but ends up being enough to get a good taste and make you crave for more; 🟢 A lot of paths emerge right from the start, giving plenty of options for strategies to pursue. All feel pretty balanced out; 🟢 The Median marker, along with the Initiative and Turn Order tracks, is a fantastic idea on how to balance any high / low dice rolls, sneaking in some interaction between players; 🟢 Surprisingly easy to grasp given how much stuff there is to explore; 🟢 A lot of variability comes from Headquarters, Goal tiles and Tech boards; 🟢 Great rulebook. Sturdy components. Good iconography; 🟡 Not a lot of interaction comes through. You still want to pay attention to other players, though; 🟡 Because there's a lot of options at all times, there's a lot of potential for Analysis Paralysis; Do you agree with our thoughts? Have you tried Pulsar 2849❓️ #pulsar2849 #czechgamesedition #boardgames #eurogames #ourboardgametable #boardgamecouple #boardgamephotos

What's your favourite Dog related board game❓️ Dog Park: New Tricks | SUMMARY by Lottie Hazell, Jack Hazell published by @birdwoodgames ✨️ New Tricks adds some new elements to your previous Dog Park experience: 🐕 Multi-breed dogs - these represent 2 different Breed categories, instead of 1, which impacts Breed Expert majorities, Forecast cards, Final Scoring abilities and personnal Objectives that may refer to any of the Breeds indicated on these dog cards; 🥏 Tricks - from Setup, you now receive a Trainer piece. One Trick card is displayed per Breed category on a new board. During the Selection phase, you must place your Trainer on a dog at your kennel or lead, as well as a Trained token. From that moment, that dog will be able to perform the trick associated with its Breed category as long as it follows the trick location (kennel / lead) and cost indicated on the trick card. A different dog must be trained each round; 🌳 Super Locations - out of the new Super Location Bonus deck, these feature modular spaces that cover pre printed spaces at the Park for the duration of the round. They allow players to play special actions and be visited by multiple players at once without penalties; 5️⃣ 5th player - you get the components for a 5th player that can be used with or without the New Tricks expansion. ⏩️ And there you have it! What's the most exciting feature of New Tricks for you? Let us know in the comments‼️ #dogpark #birdwoodgames #newtricks #boardgameexpansion #boardgames #ourboardgametable #boardgamecouple #boardgamephotos

Have you played Dog Park? What about New Tricks❓️ Dog Park: New Tricks | THOUGHTS by Lottie Hazell, Jack Hazell published by @birdwoodgames 🐶 New Tricks is the newest expansion for Dog Park. Amidst all the good stuff that comes in this box, here are our thoughts on it: 🟢 The new Multi-Breed dogs add a nice layer to the competition for Breed majorities. Though more expensive to acquire, they also feel balanced for the range of Tricks that can performed with them; 🟢 Strolling around the park becomes more variable with the introduction of Super Locations that any player can visit without additional costs; 🟢 Getting to teach Tricks feels very thematic and elevates any synergies you were used to build in Dog Park; 🟢 Super Locations and Multi Breed dogs seemingly mix with the base game, almost without any extra rules; 🟢 Bonus points for another useful insert and tray. Artwork and components of great quality too; 🟡 Tricks can be hard to master at first. They can only be performed at certain timings, places (kennel / lead) and costs so managing 7 of them will elevate the complexity of your usual Dog Park experience; 🐕‍🦺 Let us know if you're a fan of Dog Park or if you would love to teach your dogs some New Tricks❗️ #dogpark #birdwoodgames #boardgames #brettspiel #ourboardgametable #boardgamecouple #boardgamephotos

What did you play this weekend❓️ Ezra and Nehemiah | ABOUT by S. J. Macdonald, Shem Phillips published by @garphillgames 👥️ 1-4 Players | ⏳️ 90-120 Minutes | 🎉 Ages 13+ ⚒️ The aim of Ezra and Nehemiah is to be the player with the most victory points (VP) at game's end. Points are gained primarily by building the temple, rebuilding the city walls and gates, and by teaching the Torah to the returning exiles. Players may also seek to develop their land, travel to settlements outside the city walls, or stoke the altar's fire to keep it burning day and night. The prophets Haggai and Zechariah will be doing their part to keep the people focused on what is most important. ⏩️ Over three weeks (rounds), players will use their hand of cards, workers, and resources to do their part in rebuilding the great city of Jerusalem. After six days of work comes a Sabbath day of rest when food will be needed, and the week's work will be reflected upon. The game ends after the third Sabbath has been completed. ✨️ Curious? Have you tried Ezra and Nehemiah❓️ Ezra and Nehemiah | THOUGHTS by S. J. Macdonald, Shem Phillips published by @garphillgames ⚒️ Ezra and Nehemiah might be a celebration of everything we've learned to love with Garphill Games over the years. Here's why: 🟢 Gameplay is mostly fluid, centered around an ever growing engine of banners that feed your actions - providing the simplest, most meaningful decisions you'll make in the game; 🟢 The historical theme, focused on rebuilding Jerusalem and reinstituting Torah's teachings, is unique and well rooted into the game's various paths and phases, as far as we can tell; 🟢 You're never out of options and often is just a matter of being creative with the paths you need to pursue in order to achieve your long term strategy goals; 🟢 Great production value. Small footprint on the shelf. Concise rulebook, filled with examples and images; 🟢 Player aids! These help lift the weight of the game and are of a great assistance while teaching the game, especially during Sabbath's 3 upkeep phases; 🟡 Totally meant for seasoned players, not prone to AP, who enjoy cube-filled eurogames; 🟡 Putting everything away in the box might leave you with a good puzzle to solve; 🟡 The upkeep between rounds is procedural and time consuming; There's a lot more to be said about Ezra and Nehemiah. If you're curious with anything in particular, leave a comment and we'll answer it❗️ Disclaimer: Review Copy #ezraandnehemiah #garphillgames #boardgames #boardgamephotos #ourboardgametable #boardgamecouple

Bear with us for a few paragraphs: ⏩️ Faraway lasts 8 rounds. Each round has 3 phases: 1️⃣ Exploring a Region 🗺 - Simultaneously, players choose 1 Region card from their hands (out of 3). If they had received 1 or more Sanctuary cards, now they play 1 and discard any others; At the end of the 8️⃣th round, flip all of your Region Cards (Sanctuary cards remain face up). Reveal the Region card furthest to the right and score it. Moving left, score the other Region cards in a backwards fashion. 🔆 Any required symbols for a Region card to score can only be accessed through visible cards in your play area. What's your latest card game trend❓️ Faraway | THOUGHTS by Johannes Goupy, Corentin Lebrat published by @catch_up_games Faraway has gone far away in our rankings... See what we did there? Sorry for the bad pun. But hey!, here's what we think of this (spoiler!) fantastic game: 🟢 Backwards scoring is probably the simplest, most brilliant twist we've seen in a while. Our formatted minds still fall for its trap; 🟢 Can be played by new players or experienced ones and still be a fun puzzle for both parties; 🟢 Simple ruleset, adjusted to its playtime. Has some though choices awaiting you, though; 🟢 Lovely, unique artwork. Clear iconography. Good quality cards. Breezy rulebook; 🟢 Simplicity comes in small packages. We're glad this is no exception. Bonus points for the cardboard insert; 🟡 Essentially themeless; 🟡 Has its fair share of luck; 🟡 Scoring conditions may become a bit repetitive play after play. What about you? Do you agree with our thoughts? Let us know in the comments❗️ #faraway #catchupgames #cardgames #boardgames #ourboardgametable #boardgamecommunity
